Pre-Ride Checklist
What you need to know before signing up for rides.

All members should be confident they have the right technical skills, experience, & fitness for the ride posted.
Important: Download a copy of the route to your phone or cycle computer. This is in case you are separated from the group.
Some excellent apps include:
-OSMAnd (Amazing FREE app everyone should use + upload GPX routes for off-line emergencies)
-Strava/Komoot apps
-Garmin Connect/Wahoo Element apps
-Bikemap (free app to download routes to & navigate, paid for off-line features)
Everyone must be riding a well-maintained bike suitable for the environment, good braking & grip.
Members signing up for the ‘Epic Rise Series’ – or remote backcountry rides, it is mandatory that you carry everything in the ‘Basic Ride Kit’ along with extras from the ‘Advanced Ride Kit’, especially extra food & clothing.
For e-bike users: Members signing up for the 'Epic Ride Series' with e-bikes need to consult with the organiser first.
Some remote backcountry routes may not be suitable for this bike.
All members of the group should carry the correct kit to deal with basic mechanicals that can, (& do), arise whilst riding. (Link below).
All members of the group should carry 'Emergency Contact Details'.
Enough food & water should be carried for the ride length.
All members of the group must wear a cycling helmet & the correct attire for the ride conditions.
Riders need to take responsibility for their own safety, ride at their own risk, & understand where the risks are based on the route published, both on & off-road.

Navigation: Carry a backup GPS, & use offline mobile maps like OSMAnd. Paper maps are another option.

Excellent fitness level: Essential for remote riding.

Ride with other experienced members: The ultimate backup plan.
